Dr Rachel Nge graduated with honours from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland –
Penang Medical College
, where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics (MBBCh BAO). She was subsequently awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London (FRCOphth). She further enhanced her expertise by completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from the University of Ulster, United Kingdom.

Dr Rachel initially served at Selayang Hospital and Malacca General Hospital, gaining experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of eye conditions in the public sector. In 2018, she joined the Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital and has been practising there since, providing comprehensive ophthalmic care to her patients.

Committed to maintaining high standards of care, Dr Rachel actively keeps up to date with the latest developments in ophthalmology and patient management. She is a member of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgery, through which she regularly engages with advancements and best practices in the field.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Rachel is also actively involved in community service. She participates in initiatives aimed at improving eye health among underserved communities, including providing cataract surgeries for underprivileged patients and promoting public awareness through educational talks and eye screening campaigns.

Dr Rachel is known for her attentive and compassionate approach. She values clear communication and ensures her patients understand their eye conditions and treatment options, providing personalised, evidence-based care to help them achieve better vision and improved quality of life.

  1. Cataract refractive surgery with wide range of intraocular lenses
  2. Pterygium removal surgery
  3. Intravitreal Anti-VEGF injections
  4. Removal of corneal foreign bodies
  5. Argon laser for diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and holes
  6. YAG Laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacities post cataract surgery
  7. Minor lid procedures – chalazion drainage, abscess drainage, stye removal, eyelash epilation
  8. Dry eye management
