Dr. Helen completed her basic medical degree at University of Science Malaysia in 2001. Since then she was attached to various General Hospitals across the country including Penang General Hospital, Seberang Jaya Hospital, Bukit Mertajam Hospital and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang. She was awarded an Excellent Service Award by Ministry of Health in 2004. Dr. Helen received formal Ophthalmology training as early as 2003 and started her post post-graduate training in 2005. She obtained Master of Ophthalmology from University of Malaya in 2009. She was attached to The LASIK Centre (TLC) and Laser Pro Eye Centre prior to her joining to Centre for Sight.
Dr. Helen has special interest in cataract and refractive surgery. She passed Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery with distinction, awarded by University of Ulster United Kingdom. She is competent in performing complex cataract cases and has vast experience in refractive procedures like LASIK and Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA). She also provides comprehensive eye consultations and performs other general eye surgeries.
Dr. Helen has also authored several research papers presented in National and International Conferences. She was actively involved in teaching and supervising masters and medical students. Her previous appointment was an Honorary Lecturer for Penang Medical College in the year 2009. She has a passion for educating the public on eye diseases and runs community program organized by Lions Club and Tzu Chi Society.
Dr. Helen believes that “Every patient deserves a comprehensive eye care. Hence, providing the best care for her patients make her career meaningful”.
