Dr. Ronald is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with subspecialist interest in cataract and retinal diseases. He graduated with a MD degree from the National University of Malaysia and subsequently conferred Master of Surgery (Ophthalmology) degree in 2003. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion for Fellowship Training (subspecialty) in Vitreo-retina (CCFT) upon completion of his subspecialist training in Malaysia in 2008. Dr. Ronald is registered with the General Medical Council (UK) Specialist Registry and the National Specialist Registry Malaysia for Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ronald has extensive work experience, having served in HUKM, Hospital Selayang and St. Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool (under the tutelage of Professor David Wong). During his tenure at Hospital Selayang, Dr. Ronald was the head of retinal surgery from 2008 to 2011. The unit then was a leading center for retinal surgery and retina surgery training. Dr. Ronald was also the lead trainer for the VR fellowship program and was actively involved in the Master in Ophthalmology training program.
His interest includes diabetic related surgical disease, ocular trauma and age related macular degeneration. Dr. Ronald is a member of both the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmologist. He is currently a visiting consultant to Ramsay Sime Darby Subang and Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur.
